“Fast Décor” Phenomenon: MoveToAsia on the French Télévision “Envoyé Spécial” TV Show

A few weeks ago, Élise Lucet’s team visited MoveToAsia as part of the filming of her famous show Envoyé Spécial.

The documentary focuses on “fast décor” and the production of affordable decorative items in Vietnam. The program is air live on 02/10/2025 at 21:10 and will be available for replay on FranceTV.fr after the broadcast.

Between Artisan Workshops and Modern Factories: MoveToAsia Accompanies Envoyé Spécial in Vietnam

MoveToAsia accompanied the Envoyé Spécial team on a three-day immersion into Vietnam’s furniture and décor manufacturing industry.

Day 1: Visiting Bat Trang and Ha Thai villages (ceramics, porcelain and lacquerware)

The first day began in the famous village of Bat Trang, known for its ceramics and porcelain, and celebrated for its skills passed down through generations. The team then continued their exploration in a village specializing in lacquerware, a material emblematic of Vietnamese craftsmanship. Lacquer comes from the sap of a local tree and is used to create decorative objects, furniture, and artistic panels. Under French colonial rule, this tradition evolved: Vietnamese artists merged their ancestral techniques with European aesthetic codes, giving rise to modern lacquer art, now exported and recognized internationally.

Day 2: Meeting artisans in Ninh Binh

On the second day, the team traveled to Ninh Binh to meet artisans working with natural wood species and woven products. In these workshops, everything is handcrafted: from the meticulous weaving of natural fibers to the refined processing of local woods, where tradition and creativity combine to create unique objects.

Day 3: Visits to wood-processing factories in Ha Nam province

After two days dedicated to craftsmanship and local production, the third day took a more industrial turn with visits to wood-processing factories in Ha Nam province. Wood sourcing is crucial for Vietnam’s furniture industry, particularly acacia, prized for its strength and rapid growth. Bamboo, a symbol of Vietnamese culture, is appreciated for its lightness, flexibility, and eco-friendliness, making these two materials pillars of local production and export.

MoveToAsia’s Local Expertise: A Valuable Asset for Envoyé Spécial

The local expertise of the MTA team is a real asset in understanding Vietnam’s furniture and interior décor industry. Many clients have expressed satisfaction with the support received for successfully completing their projects, whether in sourcing, production, or business development in furniture and décor.

In this context, the visit by Élise Lucet and the Envoyé Spécial team was part of an exploration and investigative dynamic. Filming took place partly during visits to new factories potentially added to MoveToAsia’s pre-selected partner list, further emphasizing the relevance of this collaboration.

The company’s founder, Guillaume Rondan, a French expatriate in Vietnam for many years, leverages his expertise to assist clients and Élise Lucet, supported by a multilingual team capable of navigating local realities and international expectations. This in-depth local knowledge allows for a better understanding of an industry in transformation.

Moreover, this is not the company’s first collaboration with French media: two years ago, France 5 invited MoveToAsia for a report on furniture and Made in Vietnam. MoveToAsia thus confirms its role as an essential bridge between Vietnamese know-how and the international market.
